This Saturday, the 9th, at 8:30 a.m. the Friends of the Park will be holding their annual Park Advocacy Conference at the South Shore Cultural Center. The conference is a great event that's catered towards members of park advisory councils or people who are interested in taking an active role in helping their local parks. There will be two large group sessions at the beginning and end, and three "breakout" sessions between them where attendees can choose between different small group workshops that focus on a broad variety of issues. There are also some good opportunities to network with other PAC members to find out what they're up to in the other neighborhoods and share your experiences. On top of all these great things, the South Shore Cultural Center is one of the gems of the Chicago Park District's system and a pretty nice place to spend your Saturday morning.
The event is free and registration is still open, but rsvp right away.
