Just one more reminder that tomorrow is a big day in Humboldt Park with the Earth Day Clean-up event, put on by the Block Club Federation and Friends of the Park, and the Earth Day 5k Run.
The clean-up event is an opportunity for groups and residents from around the community to come out and volunteer alongside their neighbors by cleaning up trash and mulching trees. Volunteers can register at the fieldhouse starting at 9 a.m. and receive gloves, tools and t-shirts. There will also be tables set up by community organizations (including the HPAC) offering food, drinks and information about the services they provide. Starting at 11 a.m. there will be a live band playing on the veranda of the fieldhouse. The clean-up will end at noon and the entertainment will end at approximately 2 p.m. This is a great opportunity to spend a few hours doing good for the community and mixing with your neighbors. There's no minimum time commitment and everyone does whatever they can to contribute.
If you frequent one of the other parks in the area, check the Friends of the Parks website for other participating parks, but please note that volunteer registration may be closed.
To learn more about the Earth Day 5K run, see their website. The run begins at 8 a.m. at the boathouse and same day registration is available.
Hope to see you there!
